Formal Living Room Update // Bendigo

Our clients sought the expertise of our design service, Couture For Living. They had been living in their period home for some time surrounded by furniture inherited from their previous house, and decided it was time to update! The formal living room and hallway were the priority.

It was very important to our clients that they retain their ever so comfy IMG leather recliners that they had purchased from us a couple of years ago. They were feeling heavy in the space with the dark sofas, so it was suggested they relocate the tv and flip the recliners to be on the opposite of the room. A new fabric sofa and a couple of feature chairs were suggested to replace the dark heavy sofas, a bigger rug, floor lamp and new occasional tables were the initial thoughts...

The Vision

We created a mood board to help them visualise how it would all come together.

The sofa recommended was the Windsor by Molmic for its nod to "old meets new" and our clients found it very comfortable. The feature chairs we proposed were the Cupid Occasional Chair also by Molmic. We suggested the rear of the chairs be the feature as they flank the hallway, so together we selected a gorgeous, patterned fabric for them to be upholstered in. The slam dunk though was linking the sofa and chairs by using the sofa fabric as the seat fabric on the chairs and using the same pale blue contrast piping on both.

The new coffee tables recommended were the GlobeWest Elle Nest Tables in white Carrara marble with brushed gold frame and matching side table, the GlobeWest Elle Side Table also in white Carrara marble and brushed gold. The Tivoli floor lamp is the perfect lamp as it has a contemporary feel with the terrazzo base, brushed gold stem and frosted white shades.

The rug we suggested for this room is perfect, The Rug Collection Mystique Rug in Ivory Sand. It is handwoven and 100% wool with the most beautiful, warm colourway that works perfectly with the wall colour and curtains.
It also had to work with the hallway runner as it is visible when in the living area. Our clients have a very long hallway, rather than do one long runner (like they already had) we suggested 2 shorter ones to define the areas. The runner we suggested was the Baya Living Dakota Runner in Natural Straw

To lighten up the entry, we chose the GlobeWest Verona Crescent Console in white Carrara marble with a brushed gold base for its traditional, yet elegant stature and to tie back to the occasional furniture in the adjacent living area. (Mirror and artwork still to be rehung after new paintwork)

We are so happy with the end result of our clients formal living area and hallway, together we have created a space that exemplifies traditional beauty with contemporary elegance. But it's not about us, it's how our clients feel so read below to find out what they think about it!

this is what our clients had to say....

"After struggling to know how to style our lounge room and entrance hall we decided to purchase the Couture For Living package. We are so happy with the amazing results. After Lisa visited our home and chatted with us about what we liked, she came up with a design we had not considered. We are very happy with the end result, modern but still fitting with our older style home. Thank you for your expertise, friendly advice, and making our MYHAH experience a pleasurable one. The furniture was delivered quicker than expected and delivery was painless. Very happy customers!"
