Environmental Commitment

We at Make Your House A Home have a strong desire to have a positive impact on society, both socially and environmentally. Where practical we only engage with environmentally responsible suppliers and sub-contractors, who understand and are sympathetic of our strong environmental stance. We constantly seek new and sustainable products to replace existing ones in order to reduce our environmental legacy.

Here are some examples of how we are doing our bit on a daily basis...

• Power off when not in use.

• Window display lighting on timers.

• All light bulbs are energy efficient.

• We provide and use hand towels which are laundered using green washing powders on cold quick cycles.

• All office paper is 100% recycled and Australian made.

• We recycle all cardboard boxes and packaging which is collected daily by a specialist recycling company.

• We use recycled paper for our office notepads.

• All printed newsletters are printed on 100% recycled paper.

• We only stock products that are not tested on animals.

• We regularly support charities such as Zonta, Red Cross, RSPCA, and donate prizes to local reputable charities or schools wherever we can.

• We have a council accredited child play area in our showroom.

• We stock and support Wortley Group (fabrics) in their Environmental Rating Scheme (ERS) which takes into account the technical specifics of manufacturing each product, from farming, energy consumption, through to mill waste and recycling programs. The environmental impact of each product is carefully scrutinized. The consumption of water, land, energy and chemicals and the production of greenhouse gases are just a few of the factors assessed.

  

  The higher the leaf rating, the less the impact it has on the environment during it's lifecycle.
