This lamp was designed in 1983 by Michele de Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina. The Tolomeo desk lamp became a mandatory item in all good entreprenuers offices in the late 1980's.
With its smooth articulation and sleek lines, this superior design received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro Award in 1989. The lamp was recognized for achieving the perfect marriage of design and engineering.
The Tolomeo design begins with a heavy polished base and ends with a matte anodized aluminum diffuser that swivels 360 degrees and can be easily turned with a cool to the touch steel handle. In between, the lamp's dual-arm body adjusts by loosening and tightening the central and bottom joints, and steel tension cables provide infinite positions in which the lamp can be held.
