OUR BEGINNINGS

Growing up in Napier, a small regional pocket on the western cape of South Africa, GlobeWest founders Alan & Stephen Mendel spent their young lives observing with interest their parents' passion for collecting and restoring antique furniture for the family home. The boy's uncle, Jack manufactured furniture, whilst their father also owned and ran a successful furniture shop retailing mainstream tables, chairs and bric-a-brac for the district. 10,000+ kms from South Africa, and half a lifetime later following parallel careers, the brothers decided to build something together in their new of Australia. Combining their complementary skills under a shared passion for interiors, in 2004 GlobeWest was born.
