Andes Rug - Sandstorm by Weave 200cm x 300cm
One of our most popular rugs, the Andes brings texture to your room with its handwoven rib design. Andes is a handwoven textured floor rug featuring a rib design in 50% wool and 50% cotton. It uses chunky spun wool yarn, together with warp threads in cotton to tie down the chunky woollen yarn. The combination gives the rug strength, and stability as well as visual interest. The rug is finished with a braided edge.
Our feathered colourway features undyed wool in darker tones. Measuring 200cm x 300cm and featuring full cotton backing and edging for improved longevity and wear, the Andes is recommended for bedrooms and sitting rooms, but it's not ideal for under a dining room table.
All of our rugs are handwoven in Northern India, using traditional techniques to create floor rugs that are warm, classic and a pleasure to have in your home.
Rug Care & Maintenance:
Weave rugs are made using mainly natural fibres, chosen for their beauty and longevity. Our rugs are made from wool, cotton, viscose and jute. We want every Weave rug to last for many years, looking as good as when you first bought it. This is why every one of our rugs has cotton backing and braided edge on the underside to provide strength and stability, and keep the rug square.
All the rugs in the Weave range are hand woven in India using a technique called flat weave. Flat weave rugs have been created for generations, using skills handed down through artisan families. Hand woven, flat weave rugs are beautiful in their individuality and longevity. Weave rugs are not machine made.
We recommend treating spots and spills immediately with warm water and paper towel. If the stain persists, contact a professional rug cleaner as soon as possible. Do not scrub rugs as it may cause permanent pile damage. Vacuum regularly with low suction power. Avoid direct sunlight. Regularly rotate your rug to ensure even wear. Use professional rug cleaners only. Shedding of fibres from new rugs is to be expected and will reduce with time.
We also recommend a non slip underlay (also known as rug lock) always be placed under rugs. It will stop the rug slipping, create more depth underfoot and lessen wear on the rug. It also prevents the risk of dye transfer to the under surface and helps protect timber flooring.
Shedding and pilling is normal for hand made rugs containing wool. It occurs due to foot traffic, furniture movement and vacuuming. Regular vacuuming will reduce shedding faster. Any small balls of fibre can be removed with scissors or a de-piller - being very careful not to cut a strand.
Pop ups are another, completely normal characteristic of flat woven rugs. A pop up is simply a loose thread, Remembering that our rugs are all handwoven, as a craftsman weaves the yarn back and forth across the loom, at some point he'll run our of yarn. In all carpet & rug weaving these threads are tucked in, as the new piece of yarn is started. A pop up is simply when this end of the yarn works its way loose. They should not be considered a fault, or a reason for return. Pop ups can either be left alone, gently cut off, or pushed back into the structure of the rug.
Taking care of, a Weave floor rug will last for years adding beauty and warmth to your home.
